"Sonny's Blues"
Today in class we discussed "Sonny's Blues" written by James Baldwin. We talked about two songs, one by Louis Armstrong, the other by Charlie Parker and how they correlate with "Sonny's Blues". The differences between Sonny and the narrators thoughts on jazz are completely opposite. Sunny believes life needs to be happy, and to achieve happiness you have to live in the moment. The narrators believes that in order to obtain happiness you have to go to college, get a job, and have a family. The narrator is much more traditional compared to Sonny.
